The SIG ICTSU was mandated by a cabinet decision (RF461/1/9) in 2011 to provide WoG ICT Service Delivery. These Services include the Coordination, Delivery and Support of any ICT projects for the Solomon Islands Government.

The SIG ICTSU has three core functions. All core functions are aimed at reducing the ICT burden to Ministries and to ensure there is consistency in the delivery of ICT Advice and Services across SIG.

  • ICT Strategic Advice and Innovation;
  • ICT Business Process and Management; 
  • ICT Operational Support; 

 

The core purpose of the SIG ICTSU is to remove the ICT burden and make ICT to become an enabling tool, which allows Ministries to focus on delivering their corporate objectives.

 

As such, it is of vital importance that SIG ICTSU provides a secure, safe and controlled environment where Ministries can host their data and applications. This is done as part of the core function of ICT Operational Support.

 

ICTSU has 15 full-time staff and other IT officers in other Ministries and a Technical Advisor, and a Policy Advisor.
