The Financial Economic Development Unit (FEDU) helps the Ministry find and co-ordinate funding from donors for projects that will help improve the Solomon Islands economy.
FEDU is also the official point of contact and coordinator for the International Financial Institutions (IFIs), such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. FEDU also contributes to the review and development of sound financial and economic policies.
FEDU's work includes giving: - Logistical support to IFIs missions to the Solomon Islands:
- Establishing the terms of reference;
- Brief the Executive and Heads of Division on upcoming missions; and
- Work with other Government Ministries to compile and prioritise investment projects based on proper impact.
- Strategic priorities are central to development partners development plans;
- Strategic priorities are enshrined in future national development plans; and
- The Ministry knows about changing aid architecture (Paris, Accra).
